Resident asks board to address high school athletic‑field noise affecting nearby homes

WETHERSFIELD — During public comment at the Board of Education meeting, resident Ben Frasini Kendrick urged school leaders to work with neighbors to reduce loud music from Wethersfield High School athletic fields.
Kendrick, who identified his family residence as 467 Church Street, described an incident unrelated to the fields and then said he and neighbors have noticed a marked increase in noise from warm‑up music and public‑address use over the past 12 months. "I can literally hear just like it was on the radio inside my bedroom," Kendrick said, describing music played during team warm ups.
Kendrick said chronic noise worsens his medical conditions by keeping his nervous system in a heightened state. He asked the board and district staff to "work together to try to bring this under control a little bit" so neighborhood residents can again enjoy occasional evening events without nightly loud PA music. He thanked the board for past service and said he wanted collaborative solutions rather than confrontation.
Board members did not take action during the public‑comment period. The district's public comment rules, read at the start of the meeting, remind speakers of a five‑minute time limit and that board members do not respond immediately following a resident's remarks.
