City staff told the council that a notice to terminate the UBTech contract had been issued and that staff will meet with UBTech representatives to discuss any counterproposals.
Lieutenant Alan Tucker (presenting) said the city's counterproposal had been received by UBTech leadership and that the contract is currently in the 90-day notice period. "The ninth day notice has been given to terminate the contract," he said, and staff planned to meet with UBTech the following day to review options. Tucker said the council could rescind the termination if it chose to accept a new offer from UBTech.
The mayor and several council members said they expected to press hard on the city's previously offered terms. The mayor said the council's last offer "was right in the middle and a good offer" and that he would go into the meeting "very strong on the proposal that we already have." Officials discussed a numerical offer referenced in the staff presentation ("112" was mentioned in the discussion) but did not state a currency or other unit in the transcript.
No formal vote was taken; staff will report back to council with the result of the meeting and any proposed changes to contract terms.
