Parks master-plan outreach continues; Price Park playground and gazebo work scheduled

City staff told the council that public engagement for the Parks and Recreation master plan had a strong turnout and several more opportunities remain for residents to provide input. The staff update also described planned improvements at Price Park, including replacement playground equipment and gazebo accessibility work funded by a capital award.

Catherine (staff) said the master-plan process held sessions at Dogwood Park with good attendance and that the survey remains open through the end of the month; paper copies are available at City Hall and the library. Staff listed upcoming engagement opportunities: staff will be at the farmers market and community events on Sept. 20, Sept. 25 and Sept. 27 (New Berlin Fest) to collect input.

Parks Superintendent Brian Hill reported that the city will use Snyder Recreation for the playground replacement at Price Park and will use capital award funds to redo the fishing gazebo and improve accessibility with concrete, upgraded seating and lighting. Hill said the gazebo work and playground refresh are scheduled for this fall. Separately, staff noted tree relocation work is planned and seeding and turf restoration for recent projects remain in progress with contractor follow-up as needed.

The Price Park equipment purchase was included in the consent agenda the council approved earlier in the meeting. No additional council action was recorded on parks items at the meeting.
