Rachel Keeney, director of the Top of West Virginia Convention & Visitors Bureau, presented the bureau’s annual report to the Hancock County Commission on Aug. 28, describing marketing updates, media outreach and grant-funded efforts toward a conference center for the region.
Keeney said the bureau secured new photo and video content for advertising and arranged media tours that produced write-ups promoting the area. "We were able to get some updated photo and video content for all of our advertising and marketing of the area," she said. She also told the commission the bureau had obtained grant funding to continue work on bringing a conference center to the area.
The presentation summarized how bureau funds are being used for tourism and hospitality promotion across the counties the bureau serves and invited commissioners to raise questions or ideas. The commission voted to make the bureau’s annual report a matter of record.
The presentation occurred during the meeting’s government-agency presentations; a printed copy of the report was included in the commissioners’ meeting packet.
