Beltrami County approves 2026 employee insurance plan after 4–1 vote

"I think 1, 2, 3% would have been reasonable," Gould said.
Commissioner Winger moved to approve the 2026 employee insurance plan; Commissioner Carlson seconded. Roll-call votes recorded Commissioners Sumner, Winger, Carlson and the chair as voting yes and Commissioner Gould as voting no. The motion passed 4–1.
No amendment or special funding source was adopted at the meeting. The vote was taken as part of consent-agenda handling after the item was pulled for discussion; commissioners did not direct staff to reopen underwriting or request an immediate procurement review beyond Gould's suggestion that the county consider other carriers when the contract next comes up for bid.
