Asbury Church restoration design contracts signed; oral-history work advances

Town clerk reported contracts are signed for design of the Asbury Church restoration and that the oral-histories project has received photographs and responses from local contributors.
Town Clerk Rhonda North told the council that contracts were signed with Downey and Scott and Glavion Holmes to design the Asbury Church restoration project and that a project kickoff meeting is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 22.
Rhonda North also reported progress on the oral-histories and archival-photo effort tied to the restoration. "In response to our press release, asking for historical photos, we had some citizens who responded: James Roberts, Phyllis Cook Taylor, the Wendy Hill Foundation," she said, and cited additional donations of photographs from local residents, including Betsy Davis and Kathy Bernasch.
North said the committee expects to have a near-final set of individual interviews for the committee's review next week and anticipates a first draft of the compilation video soon. Once the committee approves the direction, staff will work with Mayor and others on voice-over scheduling for the video.
No formal action was taken; the report outlined next steps in the design and interpretation phases.
