Commissioners agree to continue talks with FDOT and partners on Tri‑Rail funding after lawmakers cut 2025 support

Vice Mayor Melissa Baxter said she would oppose assuming the entire funding burden and emphasized the need for FDOT and other regional partners to participate. Administrator Abruzzo said staff had raised those topics in conversations with FDOT and the tri‑county agencies and that continued negotiation is appropriate.
The board gave staff direction to continue discussions with FDOT and Tri‑Rail partners about possible revenue enhancements, vendor partnerships, and phased county contributions as part of a multi‑party solution. No formal vote was required; the action was recorded as board direction for staff follow‑up.
