Council approves mayoral appointment, authorizes administrator negotiations in unanimous votes

Later in the meeting the council voted to enter executive session for personnel matters related to the city administrator search under the authority the council cited as Title 1, chapter 13, subchapter 1, section 4056(a). The motion to enter executive session was made by Councilor Hatch and seconded by Councilor Berman; the motion passed on a 7-0 roll call vote. The council recessed to a conference room at 6:38 p.m. and returned to open session at 7:08 p.m.
After exiting executive session, the council voted 7-0 to "authorize interim city administrator Emily Cole Prescott and HR Director Cox to enter into negotiations with the city council's chosen candidate for the city administrator's position." Councilor Hatch moved the authorization; Councilor Johnston seconded. The roll call recorded unanimous approval.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous vote to adjourn at 7:09 p.m.
