Mobile Public Library director urges residents to sign up during Library Card Sign-up Month

The Mobile Public Library director addressed the Mobile County Commission on Sept. 22 to mark Library Card Sign-up Month and to highlight resources available to county residents.
"This month is library card sign up month," the director said, urging county residents to get a library card to access 11 branches and online resources, including Universal Class online courses available via the library's website at www.mobilepubliclibrary.org. The director emphasized the library's role in after-school life for children, noting that many children go to libraries after school and describing the library as a partner in community programming.
The director also thanked commissioners for partnering on a recent town hall addressing the fentanyl crisis and said she wants to work with the county on programs for children who may be at risk when they leave school for the day.
Commissioners thanked the director and staff for keeping library doors open and for programming that serves youth and the community.
