District outlines five strategic goals for year; facilities updates include turf lights and vestibule work

District staff presented the Lewisburg Area School District’s comprehensive-plan goals and accompanying objectives during the Sept. 11 board meeting, describing priorities for student learning, safety and well-being, inclusive practices, facilities and communications.
Under student learning, staff emphasized aligning K–12 science curriculum maps to new standards and expanding MTSS (multi-tiered systems of support) processes; staff said MTSS interventions and small-group time will begin in the second marking period and that screening and diagnostic assessments were completed to place students into support groups. The presentation also noted district guidance on artificial intelligence had been distributed to staff in hard copy.
On safety and well-being, staff said the district will review and update the Emergency Operations Plan’s reunification procedures and conduct a school climate survey in October or November using funds from a PCCD grant. Inclusive-practices objectives include connections between regular-education teachers and special-education case managers and a committee to improve inclusion for special education and ELL students.
Facilities updates shown to the board included a near-complete vestibule at the middle school with an exchange window and a future door-fob entry; panels will be frosted glass and additional security pieces are planned. Staff also displayed new lights for the turf field and new tennis-pole installations; the lights were described as recently raised with aiming and speaker placement still under discussion, and staff said they hope to host an evening game under the lights in early October.
On communications, staff described consolidating building social media channels into a district page and plans to ensure families have access to translated communications.
Board members asked clarifying questions during the presentation, including why MTSS is listed under the student-learning goal (staff explained MTSS is an instructional intervention) and whether “Win Time” is part of MTSS (staff confirmed it is). The presentation materials were placed in the board packet for reference.
