West York trustees press York County School of Technology on charter, seats and acceptance rates

Director Harlacher reported a series of meetings between West York Area School District and York County School of Technology leadership about how the tech center allocates seats and whether the center’s charter can be changed to allow more flexible enrollment options.

The discussion matters because West York said roughly 55% of applicants are denied admission to full‑time programs and the district currently has 114 full‑time seats allocated at the tech center. Director Harlacher said the district wants to explore converting some full‑time slots to part‑time “flex” or dual‑enrollment seats to give more students access while keeping costs stable.
