Sheriff's office compliance checks show mixed results; board inspector reports inspections and recent license turn‑ins

Deputy Steve Myers, alcohol enforcement coordinator, reported that sheriff's deputies conducted six alcohol compliance checks at restaurants in August, resulting in three failures and three passes. He also reported DUI/arrest totals for the month: the sheriff's office made 13 DUI arrests and the Maryland State Police made 14; Deputy Jacob Mills led with four DUI arrests for the month. Deputy Myers said there were no postings or summonses related to public parks and that the office had conducted stationary surveillance at several establishments without finding violations.
Board inspector Kevin Hall said he completed 15 inspections since the last meeting, including followups, and handled at least one license turn‑in (license returned and alcohol removed from premises) with another business closing soon. Hall noted routine follow‑up inspections and office work.
Board members asked follow‑up questions about which businesses had returned licenses; Hall said Board and Brush had gone out of business and one additional business was preparing to close. The board will receive further enforcement details in future reports.
