Salisbury council approves reappointments, consultant engagement and first readings for two ordinances

The council re-read and approved Resolution No. 3422 to reappoint Margaret Lawson to the Historic District Commission for a term ending July 2028. The council also read and approved Resolution No. 3423 to retain Cohen Law Group and partner CBG Communications Inc. as consultants for the city’s cable franchise renewal process.
On ordinances, the council advanced Ordinance No. 2954 to accept discretionary grant funds from the Office of Problem-Solving Courts’ Adult Drug Court Program. The grant will reimburse police overtime for curfew and contract-compliance checks on program participants; the ordinance was presented for first reading and carried on the council’s voice vote. The council also advanced Ordinance No. 2955, authorizing the mayor to appropriate reallocated proceeds from the city’s Feb. 2024 public improvement bonds for land acquisition for the North Prong Park project; that measure passed first reading.
All four items were adopted or advanced on voice votes during the legislative portion of the meeting. Council staff read the items aloud before the motions, and the vice president recorded the “aye” votes. No roll-call tallies with member-by-name voting were recorded in the public transcript for these items.
