Placer County staff presented an update on Sept. 22 on environmental stewardship initiatives for eastern Placer County — programs the county and regional partners say are intended to protect the Lake Tahoe Basin while supporting local businesses and visitation.
Ryan Murray, management analyst for the county’s Tahoe executive office, told the Placer County Board of Supervisors that stewardship work in the Tahoe Basin spans transportation, stormwater and sediment reduction, wildlife interface (bear‑safe trash), dark‑sky lighting and single‑use plastics reduction, and that the county coordinates with regional partners including the North Tahoe Community Alliance, League to Save Lake Tahoe, the Tahoe Fund, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and agencies such as USFS and UC Davis.
