Board approves Pacalana’s Pokewagon food-truck request for Sept. 26

The Board of Public Works and Safety on Sept. 15 approved a request from Issa Center, owner and operator of Pacalana’s Pokewagon, to park on the sidewalk in front of the Ohio Theatre and serve customers on Sept. 26 in conjunction with a vintage-radio themed event.
Issa Center told the board the truck would arrive about an hour before doors open to set up and would leave at about 9 p.m. Staff confirmed the truck’s operation would be inside the downtown food-truck perimeter (Broadway to Jefferson and Second to Third) and that the city had previously implemented permitting procedures for such placements.
Board members asked about electrical cables and generator decibel levels; Center said no exterior cables were planned but that if cables were needed the operator would provide safe, covered protection; Center also said they had a new, quieter generator. Staff said the operator had followed the permitting process and noted typical conditions: keep service to the sidewalk rather than the street, manage noise and waste, and maintain safe pedestrian access.
A board member moved to approve the request and the motion passed by voice vote.
