Board approves first pay application for Main Street work: $88,189.20

The Board of Public Works and Safety on Sept. 15 approved pay application No. 1 for the Main Street construction project in the amount of $88,189.20, city staff said.
Staff described the submittal as the contractor’s first payment request and said the amount — reviewed by the city inspector and the city’s third-party reviewer — reflected work completed through Aug. 25. City staff said the pay request represented a modest portion of the total project and that substantial additional work has occurred since the invoice date, including bump-outs and stormwater elements.
Staff said a schedule update and public communication would be issued to help businesses and residents navigate sidewalk and road closures as the project progresses, and that they were working to limit impacts during the upcoming Chautauqua Weekend. Staff reported that some road closures due to a safety incident had aided progress and that the city was coordinating to reopen sidewalks and crossings to minimum safety standards as soon as possible.
A board member moved to approve the pay application and the payment was approved by voice vote.
