Trustees agreed to limit trustee‑submitted interview questions: each trustee may submit two questions by Oct. 17; staff will consolidate duplicates and circulate the final interview question list. If the board receives five or more applicants, trustees will limit each candidate’s question allotment to one to reduce interview time.
Location and timeline: Trustees also voted to change the board’s next meeting location to Sutro Elementary School (District 6) so public comment on the appointment can originate from the seat’s residents. The board scheduled candidate interviews for the Oct. 28 meeting and directed staff to verify that each applicant lives in District 6 (address verification) before interview.
Interview process and materials: Candidates will be interviewed one at a time, in alphabetical order, and each answer will be time‑limited. The board agreed to a three‑minute time limit per answer. Trustees asked staff to vet questions for legality and consistency and to check applicants’ addresses with county records to confirm residency in District 6 before scheduling.
Why it matters: The appointment fills a trustee vacancy created by resignation and will continue until the next regular election cycle; appointed members may later run for election under state law. Formal action: Trustee Farr made the motion to open the process and change the meeting venue; Trustee Whistler seconded. The board approved the motion 6–0.
