Historic Preservation Commission approves meeting minutes, accepts Cliff May homes survey draft

The Las Vegas Historic Preservation Commission voted to approve the minutes from its Aug. 27, 2025, regular meeting and to accept the second draft of an intensive historic-resources survey of Cliff May–designed homes.
The minutes approval was moved by Commissioner Cosgrove and carried after a voice vote. Vice Chair Laramie moved to accept the second draft of the Cliff May homes survey; the motion carried after commissioners voiced their support.
The survey of the Cliff May houses, produced by Keltz Environmental Consultants and presented by consultant Zoeanne Campana, incorporates input from the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), which “didn’t have any substantive comments, and they concurred with our findings,” Campana told the commission. Commissioners requested a small set of additional edits and confirmations; staff said the final report will be returned to the commission at the October meeting.
The commission did not record a roll-call vote with named yes/no tallies on either motion in the public transcript. The clerk recorded the motions as carried.
The Cliff May survey covers the area roughly bounded by Evergreen Avenue, Heron Avenue, Easy Street, Upland Boulevard and Bridal Avenue and documents construction details and historic context, including comments about fireplaces and foundation types that commissioners asked staff and the consultant to confirm before final publication.
The commission also heard that SHPO concurred with the survey’s findings and that minor commissioner comments have been incorporated into the second draft.
Going forward, staff asked commissioners to submit any remaining editorial comments for incorporation before the final report is published and scheduled for the October meeting.
