NextGen Board updates on Transportation Mobility Board, safer-streets pilots and master-plan outreach

A NextGen Board member who attended a Transportation Mobility Board meeting reported that the mobility board is seeking broader input for safer-streets initiatives and transportation-master-plan updates, and encouraged NextGen members to complete a short survey the city circulated.

The attendee said the mobility board invited a superintendent from Littleton Public Schools to the November meeting to discuss student transportation and that the mobility board is interested in collaboration on longer-term impacts. Members discussed pilot projects that have been installed on local streets — temporary bollards and low-profile separators — and noted staff are learning from the pilots and reducing visual clutter where appropriate.

Board members weighed the trade-offs between temporary demonstrations and permanent infrastructure. One board member noted temporary installations are less expensive but can require repeated replacement; another noted permanent changes are costly and should be targeted. The Euclid Avenue project near Euclid High School was cited as an example of near-term permanent work that will inform broader decisions.

The board also discussed the transportation master-plan survey and tentatively agreed that a future agenda item could collect member input on plan priorities and shape a short advisory letter to staff. Members said they would monitor the Euclid pilot for operational information such as snow removal impacts and community feedback before urging widespread permanent installations.

No formal decisions or votes were taken; the board will follow the mobility board’s meeting schedule, circulate the transportation-master-plan materials, and consider writing targeted advisory comments in a future meeting.
