NextGen Board hears update on Geneva Village stakeholder work; ULI report due to study session

The board was told ULI will deliver a final report and recommendations at a study session on August 26, and members agreed it would be sensible to wait for that document before drafting more formal comments to council.
Pam Champborn, a resident who spoke during public comment, urged preservation of Geneva Village and recommended exploring a mid-century-modern historic overlay along Littleton Boulevard that would include Geneva Village and the downtown area. Pam said preserving the area would be “lower cost to the city” and provide “increasing dividends over time” compared with selling or repurposing city-owned assets.
Board discussion linked Geneva Village to other city priorities — notably affordable housing and the downtown project — and members noted the benefits of framing work on Geneva Village as part of a broader systems analysis rather than treating each parcel in isolation. Participants also flagged walkability, parking, short-term lodging and historic preservation as recurring stakeholder concerns that may influence downtown planning.
Members agreed to watch the ULI presentation when it is released and to consider coordinated NextGen engagement on both Geneva Village and the broader downtown project at upcoming meetings. No formal decisions, votes, or land-use actions were made at this meeting.
