Board approves school grant appropriations, bills and several reappointments

At its Sept. 22 meeting the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors approved several routine financial and appointment items.

School appropriations: County staff presented a resolution to authorize additional appropriations to the school division accepting multiple grants. The transcript lists grant totals in the packet text in a form that was not fully clear on the record; board members approved acceptance of the grants and adopted the resolution by unanimous vote.

Payment of bills: The board adopted a resolution authorizing payment of county bills for the period; the amount presented for payment was $205,497.96. Additional appropriations included $24,586 for a railroad end‑of‑year reconciliation and $43,082 to cover a previously approved fire/EMS vehicle bill that was not rolled forward into the current fiscal year. The resolution passed on a recorded vote.

Appointments: The board reappointed multiple individuals where incumbents were willing to continue. Reappointments recorded in the meeting packet and approved were: Rick Mast to the Public Service Authority (term exp. 10/14/2025), Russell Williams to the Board of Building Code Appeals (term exp. 10/27/2025), and Nathan Ramsey to the Central Shenandoah EMS Council (term exp. 01/2025 or 10/2025 as listed in packet). Board members noted few competing applications for these seats.

Votes on these consent and financial items were recorded as approved; board members asked staff to continue training and rollout of the new Tyler ERP software and commended staff for managing operations while attending training.
