The McKinney City Council on Sept. 23 appointed Corina Velez as an alternate member of the McKinney Main Street board.
Councilman Beller nominated Velez and Mayor Pro Tem Felters seconded the nomination. Council members voted and "that motion carries," according to the meeting record.
Council members noted Velez has local business experience; the nominating council member said she "owns and operates Habitat Plants and Coffee on North Kentucky and has been there for a number of years." The council member who seconded the nomination said Velez had been on the candidate list during an earlier selection process.
The appointment fills the alternate seat listed on the agenda as item 25-3190. No public comment was recorded on the nomination during the special work session.
