The City Council approved an ordinance amending the city code section governing the I-1 light industrial district to add a defined “auto-wrecking” use. Planning staff told the council the change follows a July rezoning application and that planning staff used definitions consistent with the Department of Public Safety and the Corporation Commission rules for licensing and regulation.
Planning Commission reviewed the amendment at its Sept. 16 meeting and recommended approval. Staff asked the council to adopt the ordinance; the council voted in favor by roll call after a motion by Councilor Beatty and second by Councilor Boatwright.
Ending: The ordinance amending the I-1 district will take effect as described in the ordinance; staff said it clarifies permitted uses and aligns local code with state regulatory definitions.
