County staff described two procurement paths: a sealed bid requiring a detailed line‑by‑line specification of every piece of furniture, or use of existing state contracts. Staff and vendors recommended the state-contract path because it satisfies the competitive‑bidding requirement, lets contracted vendors consult on design and sample products, and allows an on-site review to determine which existing county furniture can be repurposed.
Monty and project advisers said the vendor process would include a vendor consultation, options for standard configurations at different cost tiers, and an evaluation of existing furniture (the county intends to reuse newer motorized sit‑stand desks where appropriate). The board discussed disposal options for items not reused; staff said surplus furniture would be offered at auction and, if unsold, disposed of as scrap per county procedures.
The motion approved staff’s recommended approach: GLT (a project advisor), Contegrity and county staff will run an RFQ to select vendors on the state contract list; the board will pick finalists from staff recommendations and the selected vendor will consult on specific selections and total cost estimates. Commissioners approved the motion by roll call.
