Edgewater Drive railroad crossing work moved to Oct. 8; vehicle access will be closed during construction

The Hooksett Town Administrator told the council the previously scheduled railroad crossing construction at Edgewater Drive — originally set for Oct. 1 — has been rescheduled to Oct. 8, with the same hours (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.). During the work, vehicle traffic will not be permitted to cross the tracks; pedestrians will be allowed to cross, and town staff recommended parking on the other side of the tracks if residents needed vehicle access during the work day.
The administrator said public‑safety agencies (police, fire, DPW) met months earlier to plan for emergency access and that the plan for the Oct. 8 work mirrors the contingency that would have been used on Oct. 1, including staging emergency apparatus on the opposite side of the crossing and leveraging the nearby station’s proximity for rapid response.
Town staff asked residents affected by the closure to plan accordingly and said the same public‑safety plan and communication strategy would be used for the new date.
