Miami City Commission approves package of resolutions on homelessness, public safety, infrastructure and housing

The City of Miami Commission on Sept. 11 approved a package of resolutions and budget actions covering homelessness assistance, public-safety partnerships, traffic enforcement, infrastructure projects and housing measures.

The commission authorized funding for the 2025–26 Miami Homeless Assistance Program — supported by a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grant with additional city matching funds — approved the city’s participation in the El Dorado Task Force with federal Homeland Security partners, and established a new traffic safety program that will fund police overtime for enforcement and education activities.

Why it matters: the items approved direct federal and city resources to emergency and preventive services, expand law-enforcement cooperation on organized-crime investigations, and commit local money to sidewalk, stormwater and accessibility upgrades that affect neighborhoods across Miami.
