The Planning and Zoning Commission approved a planned-development amendment (ZON25090033) to permit grooming and hygiene salon services and a defined 'wellness spa' use at 2634 South Carrier Parkway.
Planning staff said the existing PD 107 currently allows office uses only and that the amendment would add grooming/hygiene salon and wellness spa as permitted uses. The applicant, Leticia Ibarra, told commissioners she holds cosmetology and aesthetician licenses and certificates and plans to provide aesthetician services and retail of skin-care products. Staff recommended approval and noted that certain health- or medical-aesthetic services require licensure and would be enforced through permitting and licensing requirements.
Commissioners asked about required certifications for aesthetician services; the applicant confirmed she holds the necessary cosmetology and aesthetician credentials. Commissioner Frank Federko moved to close public discussion and approve the item as recommended by staff; Commissioner Angela Lucky Vaughn seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
The approval allows the applicant to proceed with business permitting and any required licensure before operation.
