City planning staff on Sept. 23 presented a site plan (STP2508028) for an Encore Ironwood electrical switch station in an area where a planned development allows light industrial and data center uses. Staff said the site would contain transformers, breakers and switches and that some equipment areas would use gravel pavement rather than concrete.
Staff described two requested variances: one to allow gravel pavement under equipment in lieu of concrete and another related to landscaping adjacent to paved areas. Presenters noted the city council previously approved similar variances for an Encore station on Marshall Drive and recommended approval for this site plan with the same understanding about equipment‑area materials.
Staff also showed conceptual trail and tree plantings to provide nearby screening and connectivity. No public hearing or formal vote occurred at the staff briefing; staff said the item will advance through the standard site‑plan and variance review channels for final action.
Because the briefing was informational, no motion or final commission action was recorded that evening.
