Resident invites council to inaugural Bedford Performing Arts Festival Oct. 24 at Martin Methodist Church

Pam Cochran, a Bedford resident and volunteer with ArtsDFW, used the public comment period at the Sept. 23 council meeting to invite the council and community to the first Bedford Performing Arts Festival.
Cochran said ArtsDFW, a 501(c)(3) founded by Council member Amy Sable, produces the festival as a fundraiser to support local visual and performing arts groups through grants. She told council the organization has awarded about $40,000 since its founding and that last year it gave away $10,000 to five performing-arts groups. The festival is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24 and 25, at Martin Methodist Church; performers will include the Regal Chorale, Upright Theater, Voices of Fort Worth, Northeast Orchestra Ensemble and Hopeful Projects theater.
Cochran asked council members to take a poster and publicize the event. No council action was required; Cochran's remarks were taken during the public comment period.
