Goshen council awards Clinton Street milling contract, approves short-term closure

The action followed staff comments that the contract paperwork is "for the work done and the actual number of units used for each work item" and that the project timeline was compressed to complete milling and paving during the remaining fall season. Staff said the submitted proposal was ‘‘real close to the engineering department's estimate cost for the project’’ and noted there had been only one bidder on the job.
Andrew Lund of Goshen Engineering told the council the street-closure request relates to that contract and identified the project as job number 2025-0002. Lund said the council was being asked to permit closure of Clinton Street to through traffic between Green Road and Indiana Avenue starting as early as Thursday, Sept. 25, through Saturday, Oct. 4, and that there may be a one-day hard closure of Clinton Street between Riverside Drive and Indiana Avenue during that period to accommodate paving operations. Lund said the closure request covered both the milling and paving work discussed earlier.
The council voted unanimously to approve the closure after a motion by a councilmember and a second. Following that vote, a motion to approve civil city and utility claims and to adjourn also passed unanimously.
