The Shawnee Airport Authority approved a proposal from a franchised aircraft-detailing company, operating as Sparrowhawk (detailing OKC), to provide waterless exterior detailing services at Shawnee Regional Airport.
Bonnie Wilson, airport manager, said the approach uses a waterless cleaning chemical and requires no capital investment by the airport. The airport advisory board reviewed the proposal and recommended approval. Wilson told the authority the vendor’s arrival would likely bring fueling business to the airport when the operator’s aircraft are on site.
The authority approved a draft agreement and authorized the city manager to execute the agreement, with the airport advisory board’s recommendation noted in the packet.
Why it matters: The service expands customer offerings at the airport without capital expense to the authority and may generate small ancillary revenue from fuel sales and transient operations.
