Agency outlines communications, monthly training and upcoming conferences for charter community

The Statewide Virtual Charter School Board received a communications update outlining a monthly training series, digital outreach and two planned conferences in 2026.
Communications staff said the agency launched a monthly "lunch and learn" in July to provide one hour of board‑member training per month; the agency reported 85 registrations for the first session and 105 for an August session. "It's our intent to have one a month where... board members and superintendents have the opportunity once a month to earn an hour of credit," the presenter said.
Staff also described social media and subscriber growth: the agency reported about 525 subscribers to its written newsletter, took Horizon social media in‑house (more than 1,000 followers combined on Facebook and LinkedIn), and said it will expand to Instagram. Communications staff proposed a Horizon Connect one‑day conference March 25, 2026, and said the second annual statewide charter school conference will be held in November 2026 at the Norman Embassy Suites Conference and Convention Center.
The board discussed scheduling and holiday timing for the December lunch and learn and asked staff to continue program planning and sponsor outreach. Communications staff said they would provide further logistics and promotional plans in future board materials.
