Carmel approves $102,339 security upgrade for Monon Community Center

The Board of Public Works and Safety approved a $102,339 purchase for security upgrades at the Monon Community Center and surrounding Monon Greenway on Sept. 3.
Michael Klitzing, executive director and CEO of the Parks and Recreation Department, introduced the item; Corporation Counsel Sergei Gertrzukhinov described the contract as an IT collaboration between the parks department and the city’s legal and technology teams. Gertrzukhinov said the work covers camera installation, parking-area updates and other security measures around the community center and adjacent greenway.
The contract with Wireless Networking Solutions Incorporated was presented as a request for purchase of goods and services; the board approved the contract by voice vote. Sergei said the contract is an IT contract in collaboration with the parks department to perform “certain security updates for, Monon, Greenway around Monon, community center as well as the parking updates for camera installation and, other security.”
The board noted the contract addresses both facility and parkway security and directed staff to proceed with vendor coordination and project scheduling.
