Anderson City’s Board of Works approved hiring two new firefighters during its Sept. 22 meeting.
The mayor welcomed the new hires and turned the matter over to Fire Chief Swinford, who asked the board to approve John Parker and Bryce Wilson for appointment to the Anderson Fire Department.
Chief Swinford told the board John Parker, 28, is married, lives in Gwenville, Indiana, and previously served with Fishers Fire Department; Parker holds EMT, Firefighter I and II, hazmat operations and incident command (100, 200, 700 and 800) certifications. Swinford said Bryce Wilson, 29, is married with two children, lives in Summitville and previously served with the Alexandria Fire Department; Wilson holds EMT, Firefighter I and II, hazmat operations and Instructor I certifications.
A board member moved to accept Parker and Wilson; the motion was seconded and approved. Chairman McKinley verbally recorded his affirmative vote and the chair declared the motion passed.
The mayor and chief offered brief remarks welcoming the hires and thanking their families for support. No ordinances, salaries, start dates or training schedules were specified during the discussion.
The board then moved on to other agenda items.
