District enrollment trends stabilize; middle-school declines moderate, staffing supports under review

Reid and staff emphasized that class-size impact depends not only on total number of students but also on the composition and needs of those students; special education, English-learner status and other factors affect staffing needs. The district’s human-resources and staffing teams are holding meetings with administrators to monitor classroom impacts and to consider equity in the staffing model.
Directors asked clarifying questions; staff said budget constraints limit some staffing flexibility but noted targeted supports are being provided. The enrollment report was updated in the board packet prior to the meeting.
