Board grants conditional approval for Ray Skillman Kia/Hyundai drainage plan in Whitestown

The Boone County Drainage Board conditionally approved drainage plans for a proposed Ray Skillman Kia/Hyundai auto dealership in Whitestown, county staff said.

Carrie Daley of Christopher Burke Engineering presented the project, describing a two-dealership site on about 16.8 acres with a central detention pond. Staff said runoff from the on-site basin will discharge to a downstream detention basin and then tie into stormwater infrastructure installed with a prior roundabout project. The surveyor's office and staff reported that project plans and stormwater calculations generally comply with county stormwater norms and standards, but some engineering details remain to be finalized.

Adam Dehart, the project manager on the design team, told the board he and the design team were willing to work with staff to resolve the remaining items and asked for conditional approval. The board approved the Ray Skillman Kia/Hyundai project subject to final sign-off by the surveyor's office and Christopher Burke Engineering.

The board recorded the approval on a voice vote and directed staff to complete final reviews and document any outstanding items before issuing a final acceptance.
