Council and commissioners approve creation of CASA department; community groups give updates

Staff described outreach events and the museum’s participation in the local America 250 events calendar. - Dustin’s Place: Vicky Brown, representing Dustin’s Place, announced the nonprofit’s new facility is fully funded, move-in was underway with furniture arriving, and a soft opening for families was scheduled for Sept. 22 with a public opening planned Oct. 1. Vicky thanked the council for support and invited commissioners and staff to the ribbon-cutting day.
Public-safety and fire assistance note A resident, Steve Barber (North Township), thanked the council for the $50,000 grant program that supports volunteer fire departments; council members confirmed the program is budgeted and that the council will consider funding in next year’s planning.
