Former teacher details crash injuries and accuses district of deception and poor treatment

Craig Meadows, a former teacher and bus driver, used his three-minute public-comment time at the Sept. 22 meeting to describe injuries he said he suffered in a June 16, 2021 crash and to accuse the school system and the workers' compensation system of deception and mistreatment.
"On 06/16/2021, while teaching driver's ed, The vehicle, myself, and 2 of my students were riding in was ripped apart by a drugged driver. I sustained a traumatic brain injury and several bodily injuries," Meadows said. He described ongoing physical and institutional harms and said the treatment he received "has resulted in severe problems for me and my family."
Meadows criticized contract renewals and what he called a lack of accountability in district leadership, saying he will continue to raise the issue at board meetings. "You will tell me what you've done to me to destroy my living testimony that I've spent a lifetime building. You may think you won't, but you are wrong. You most certainly will. You fix it or I will," he said.
The board did not record immediate follow-up action in the meeting transcript.
