School committee approves superintendent and committee goals for coming year

The Westford School Committee approved its goals and the superintendent’s goals for the coming year during the Sept. 22 meeting.
Dr. Chu presented the superintendent’s proposed goals, which the committee discussed and slightly adjusted in response to member feedback. Committee members added language to clarify indicators and to capture data collection around elementary physical‑education/wellness instructional time, and they discussed how to align indicators with the district strategic priorities. After discussion, a committee member moved to approve the superintendent’s goals; the motion was seconded and the committee approved the goals by voice vote.
Later in the meeting the committee reviewed a revised draft of the school committee’s own goals, including an item to review select fees (for example, certain extracurricular and transportation fees) and to continue prioritized policy updates. A member moved to approve the school committee goals; a second was recorded and the goals were approved by voice vote.
Meeting minutes record that both votes were passed without recorded dissent. Committee members requested that staff return with related materials (policy review priorities, fee data and background) as the goals are enacted during the year.
