Dawson County to update mutual-aid pact with Lumpkin County amid ISO review

"Lumpkin County is in the process or will be in the process of going through their ISO update. And as part of that, they've requested, us to update our mutual aid agreement with them," Emergency Director Troy Lease said. "So I'm here to ask that, y'all approve that so we can move forward, and they can move forward."
The update was presented as a routine file maintenance action tied to Lumpkin County's Insurance Services Office (ISO) review. Commissioners asked whether the agreement runs on a regular schedule; Lease said the agreements are generally indefinite and are updated when changes require it.
Commissioners and staff characterized the document as standard mutual-aid language and indicated the item could be placed on the board's next regular meeting agenda for formal action. No final vote or approval was recorded during the Sept. 4 work session.
The request was procedural: staff said Lumpkin initially indicated urgency but later allowed more time to complete its ISO process before finalizing the mutual-aid agreement. The board took no additional policy or operational direction during the discussion.
The matter will return to a future meeting for formal action once staff places it on the consent or regular agenda.
