Commissioners authorize chair to sign Dawson Public Power District right-of-way permit for line reroute east of North Platte

The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners authorized the chair to sign a right-of-way permit submitted by Dawson Public Power District for a project east of North Platte that will replace and reroute overhead distribution lines.
Jason Schultz, Lincoln County highway superintendent, described the project as a major distribution-line replacement and rerouting that will reduce overhead lines and increase capacity. Schultz said the road department had reviewed the submitted maps and had no objections.
The application included an attached check for $3,635.64. Commissioners asked staff when electronic drawings and shapefiles would be provided for county mapping; Schultz said county staff would receive the drawings when they are complete and noted that typical electronic formats are shapefiles. The board then moved, seconded and approved authorization for the chair to sign the permit.
The motion was recorded by roll call and carried unanimously among members present. Highway staff said most work will occur east of the Newberry Access interchange in agricultural areas and that the utility has been cooperative in prior projects.
County staff will receive and retain the submitted mapping files for internal plotting and record-keeping and will coordinate further details with Dawson Public Power District as the project design is finalized.
