Code enforcement reports 163 inquiries for month; staff to present quarterly updates

City code-enforcement staff presented a monthly summary to the commission showing the department responded to 163 inquiries and took action on 98 compliance issues during the reporting month. Staff said the department sent 81 abandoned-vehicle notices and recorded 79 parking-violation follow-ups in the same period.
Staff said notable activities included support for the annual city cleanup, follow-up on a complaint about a growing junk yard that has occupied a rear alley lot, and work to manage an underground tank removal at a commercial site. The report included definitions and notes to help commissioners understand the entries.
Rich (code compliance) said he plans to make the report a regular quarterly item to keep the commission better informed of code-enforcement workload and outcomes. Commissioners raised items for staff follow-up, including a tight manufactured-home layout and concerns about truck traffic on residential streets in the Melinda Avenue/Clackamas River Road area.
Rich said enforcement is ongoing on the alley junk-yard complaint and that cooperation from the property operator has improved. Staff also said municipal-court volunteer crews and part-time student leaders could be used to expand cleanup capacity.
Commissioners thanked staff for the format and asked that code enforcement continue to coordinate with police and public works on recurring problems. No formal votes were taken on the report; staff noted they will circulate updates and return with quarterly summaries.
