The Elkhart County Board of Commissioners voted on Sept. 22 to establish the intent to conduct a commissioner sale to offer tax-sale certificates for properties severely delinquent in property-tax payments.
Steve Olson, county attorney, told commissioners: "Before you today is a resolution establishing the intent to conduct a commissioner sale to sell tax sale certificates for properties that are severely delinquent in payment of property taxes. This is standard protocol." Olson said 67 properties are on the current list for the commissioners' sale.
County officials described the action as a routine, annual step that precedes the tax sale. The resolution passed unanimously with no additional conditions recorded at the meeting.
