Daviess County commissioners voted to revisit the County Road 200 North bond question at their Sept. 23 meeting after staff reported more time is needed to confirm whether the requested bond amount can be met.
Grant, a county staff member who provided the update, told commissioners that the project is larger than the county’s portion and that other parties’ timelines and funding determinations mean county staff may not know whether the requested bond amount is achievable until October. Grant said staff had been working on the matter since June and recommended another review at the Sept. 23 meeting.
Commissioner Mike Keith made the motion to schedule the follow-up; Commissioner T.C. Cook seconded the motion. The board voted in favor and the motion passed 3-0.
Commissioners discussed the possibility that a further 30-day extension might be necessary if outside partners need additional time to reach the bond amount. The board instructed staff to keep pressure on partners while preserving options to extend the deadline if required.
