Purdue Extension to submit updated service contract; no 2026 cost increase anticipated

Purdue Extension representatives Molly Hunt, area director for East Central Indiana, and a colleague identified as Justin briefed the council on an updated service contract that will take effect January 2026.
Ms. Hunt said the updated contract will align contract language with the county budget by moving from a numbered-personnel structure to a contractual-services line item. She told the council the 2026 cost structure shows only a very small increase compared with 2025 and that the organization is testing a pilot service-delivery model across six counties in East Central Indiana (Blackford, Jay, Delaware, Randolph, Henry and Wayne).
Ms. Hunt asked the council and commissioners to expect the contract to the commissioners in late October and to continue the countys existing support for 4-H and extension programming.
Why it matters: Purdue Extension provides youth development, agriculture outreach and other community programs; changes in contract language affect how county payments are recorded and how services are delivered at the county level.
Next steps: Purdue Extension will present the contract to the county commissioners for signature; county staff and Purdue Extension will coordinate to match budget line items in 2026.
