Henry County staff reports regional READY/REDI grant progress; council appoints local READY representative

On local leadership, the council appointed Kenneth Grama to serve on the Henry County READY leadership group. The staff presentation indicated that each county has two representatives on the regional steering committee; the staff member reporting to the council said he and Jennifer Fox from the foundation represent Henry County on the regional steering committee and that the policy's first priority is to keep allocated READY funds in the county where possible. If a county cannot move a project forward, the regional policy provides a mechanism to redistribute funds regionally.
Staff also updated the council on a Memorial Park water and sewer project: it is in the pre-commitment phase and staff has submitted a follow-up question to state reviewers through the regional office. Engineering services with United Consultants are in place from a previously approved contract but not yet engaged pending a pre-commitment trigger, at which point staff said it would quickly mobilize survey and design work.
