The Town of Lakeville Select Board voted in a roll call at its remote meeting Sept. 19, 2025, to enter executive session under Massachusetts General Laws chapter 30A, section 21(a)(3) to discuss strategy with respect to collective bargaining or litigation and said it would not return to open session.
Board members also discussed the wording to close a special town meeting warrant that one speaker referred to as for Nov. 12, 2025; a different speaker said the approved minutes show the fall special town meeting was to be opened and closed Sept. 12, 2025, at noon. After that exchange the board determined no additional vote was needed and tabled further action on the wording.
The meeting was held remotely under provisions cited as “chapter 2 of the Acts of 2023,” and the board noted the session was being recorded and made available through LakeCamTV and Facebook. A Select Board member moved to go into executive session “pursuant to Mass General Law chapter 30 a section 21 a 3 to discuss strategy with respect to collective bargaining or litigation if an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the bargaining or litigating position of the public body and the [board] declares and not to return to open session,” and the motion was seconded.
During the roll call, a board member identified as Harboni recorded “aye.” Another board member recorded “aye.” Member Plunka was noted as not present at the time of the vote. The board then proceeded into executive session and did not return to open session.
On the special town meeting warrant wording, one speaker asked for a motion to close the “11/12/2025 special town meeting warrant” and sought confirmation of the exact phrasing. A different speaker referenced the minutes of an Aug. 19 meeting that show a vote to open and close the fall special town meeting warrant and cited a date of “09/12/2025 at noontime.” After confirming the wording matched the minutes as read, the board chair said no additional vote was necessary and the item was tabled.
The meeting record does not provide a named mover or seconder for the warrant-item exchange, and the transcript records the date discrepancy between 11/12/2025 and 09/12/2025 without resolving it. No further public actions or follow-up dates on the warrant were announced before the board entered executive session.
