Judith Ronley, a Strong Towns local coalition organizer and Lincoln Institute fellow, described similar events in nearby St. George that drew hundreds of participants and led to small grassroots projects.
Mayor Chris Hart and council members said the council chambers were designed for community use and expressed general support for hosting the event. Council cautioned about open‑meeting requirements that limit how many council members can participate in a facilitated or deliberative role; staff and speakers said city officials could speak briefly as presenters or attend as part of the audience.
No formal vote was required; council gave staff and organizers the go‑ahead to schedule the Oct. 22 conversation subject to facility availability and open‑meeting compliance.
