Calistoga’s City Council voted to approve a resolution authorizing the city to fund completion of the Riverside Ponds project if the state Office of Emergency Services or the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) deny the city’s request for a time extension.
Public Works Director Raynor told the council the work is part of the city’s response to a cease-and-desist order from the San Francisco Bay Area Regional Water Quality Control Board and that FEMA had advanced “about a little over $3,000,000” to allow additional construction. Raynor said the city had requested a time extension to complete remaining work and that, if Cal OES or FEMA reject the extension, the city could be liable for roughly “$625,000 worth of work” that would extend past the September 22 deadline.
