The letter also explained the service gap was due to current staffing qualifications and made the hire "essential," according to staff summarizing the correspondence.
Commissioners discussed the salary range and acknowledged the top of the range exceeds the JTC budget for the current year. Staff advised the department has some budget savings from vacancies that could cover the position temporarily and that the county would monitor the budget; if needed the program could return to the board to request additional funding later in the year.
A motion to hire for the position with the stated salary range was moved and seconded and passed on a voice vote.
The county directed staff to accept applications and proceed with recruitment under the approved range. Staff noted a potential offset if the new hire can provide clinical supervision internally, which would reduce other contracted-supervision costs.
